When I first arrived to the studio, the music director, Amanda, was doing her weekly Wednesday noon to 1 PM shift. We chatted about different bands that we both liked, quickly realizing we both had a mutual love for twenty one pilots, Ezra Koenig and Fall Out Boy (all of my favorite subjects). Once I started my set, she commented on my selections (I kicked off my set with The Chain Gang of 1974's "Sleepwalking", who I saw in concert this past July) and gave me pointers and praised me before and after I went on air. She left to go to her class after 15 minutes of sitting in and then I was all alone.
I felt at ease and so comfortable behind that microphone with the oversized headphones on. I scrolled through the music library, noticing some of my local favorites (Miniature Tigers, The Maine, & Never Let This Go) that I selected to play during the local slots of the hour and finished my hour off with songs I noticed in the music library that I cannot stop listening to. During my talk breaks, I talked about how certain artists would be coming to town (DROWNERS & Arctic Monkeys), artists who I've seen live before (twenty one pilots) and artists who are a particular favorite (Vampire Weekend & fun.).
